The English translation of these Sanskrit words is roughly:
“May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that collective happiness and freedom.”

We find solace and inspiration in orienting around these words and this wish for the wellbeing and freedom for all.

The earliest written version of these lyrics show up in stone inscriptions in India that date back to the Sangama Dynasty (1336 A.D.-1485 A.D.)

These words likely existed as an oral tradition before that. We give thanks to the people and lineages from India that divined and carried these wise words.
